WaPo Reporter Covers Senate Hearing, Two Weeks Late

I like Walter Pincus , the Washington Post ’s veteran national-security reporter. In his “Fine Print” column, he “pores over the speeches, reports, transcripts and other documents that flood Washington and every week uncovers the fine print that rarely makes headlines — but should.” He likes to comb FedBizOpps for unusual stories. And he broke the story of Project Camelot , the Army’s ill-fated effort to fund social science research, back in 1965. Spencer Ackerman put it well: Pincus is the best blogger working in a newsprint format. But I’m completely mystified why the Post devoted space in today’s paper for this story , about Paravant, the previously little-known subsidiary of Xe/Blackwater that dramatically mismanaged a security contract in Afghanistan. As Danger Room readers already know, the Senate Armed Services Committee held a major hearing about it on Feb. 24 . The Senate streamed the video . Heck, we even live-tweeted it , as did everybody else . So it’s hard to say what’s stranger, the fact that Pincus is reporting the “fine print” from a Feb.
